Chance is about 8 years old (at least). We have given him this name in the hope that this is now his chance of happiness.

This poor boy was found in a shed of an abandoned house by and RSPCA inspector, he had no food or water and is very underweight with nails that curled round. Chance was handed in to a local vets, who contacted us to see if we could help him. It became clear that chance has problems with his front legs, which seems to be down to a neurological problem. Chance falls over alot, his front legs knuckle over and he lands right on his face, he cant walk fast or run like a normal boxer should, but he is still happy to play with his toys and be the center of attention. It seems that chance has been left like this for a while, if he wants to get up onto something (like the couch) then he will use his neck/head to try and pull himself up, this as you can imagine is very frustrating for him, his head sooo wants to do it, but his poor body cant.

Chance

Chance was seen by our own vet and blood has been taken for tests on his thyroid and to rule out a parasitic virus which may of caused nerve damage. He also has an enlarges prostate gland and muscle wastage all over his body. If the blood test results come back clear then we wil be referred to a neurological veterinary surgery for an MRI scan and further tests. This as you can imagine is not going to be cheap, we have been estimated over £1500 for the MRI & tests. But we will not give up hope on this boy and will do everything possible to ensure he has all the care he needs.

We will keep this appeal as up to date as we possibly can and any new information will be added with each update.

UPDATE 26TH MARCH 2008

Chances blood test results came back today, all seems fine with them, there is a decrease in the urea enzyme, which is to do with the liver, but the reason that this was low is probably due to the fact he has been starved.

We are now being referred to Chester Gates Hospital were they will do an MRI scan and more blood tests. This will cost aproximately £1500, possibly more if further blood tests and treatments are needed.
